VIEWER DISCRETION STRONGLY ADVISED

16 year old Grace
This 16 year old resident of Hope for Women in Crisis is smiling.  But it is not something that happens frequently.  It is only because someone has just purchased her handmade necklace displayed in the photo.

The fact is, Grace has had very little to smile about in her life.  It's not been easy.  Especially this past year.

Grace is a resident of Hope for Women in Crisis because of an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy. An elderly man sexually abused this minor and left her pregnant.

Her story doesn't get better.  It just seems to get worse. Well ... at least on the surface.  As far as the circumstances are concerned.

If you are one of those who are faint of heart when it comes to medical issues, please don't click on the link below to read the rest of the story.  There are photos of a very sensitive, but necessary, nature to communicate the challenge Grace is now facing.

Grace & her baby
She did the right thing.  She reported the abuse.  But, her reward for for that resulted in a beating that has yielded extreme consequences.  The story told was that Grace was beaten until she was beaten on her right breast ... with a brick!  Which resulted in a severe injury.

By the time her baby was born, who is now one month old, her breast was extended, swollen, damaged, and perhaps infected.

The gold in this heartbreaking story is the baby.  Every life is a gift from God, to be valued, and precious.  A reality lost on the family who violated and abused this young girl and left her life changed forever.  But, it is the reason for the compassion, care, and existence of Hope for Women in Crisis.

Every life matters.

The hope in this gruesome story is that God arranged for Grace's painful existence to intersect with Lyzette Kasigwa and her work with unwed and at risk mothers.

Though Grace has been living in a safe and loving environment, with other young ladies, and valued by people who were sent from God, her breast continued to manifest health issues that can no longer be addressed locally.

With limited financial resources, Grace had been taken to a local clinic and treated as best they could provide.  However, Grace's condition soon worsened to the extent that the skin burst and tissue was exposed as being infected.

This is now a medical crisis.

Next Generation Ministries was asked to come alongside Hope for Women in Crisis.  NGM has a reputation for caring for some extreme medical needs and enjoys an ongoing relationship with one of the best hospitals in the nation of Uganda.  Typically, all medical issues require cash up front before patients can be worked on here in this Third World Nation.  But, NGM is honored to have an invoice account with the hospital due to the vast number of patients taken there.

This was not a pleasant or easy blog to write.  We apologize for the graphic nature of the last two photos used, but we finally concluded, with Lyzette, that we could give you a better picture than you could imagine, in order for you to have sympathy for this mother and be moved to pray for her and perhaps assist in the payment for her medical bills.

Thursday, NGM will take Grace, her baby, and the Hope for Women in Crisis social worker to International Hospital Kampala.  She will be examined by a reconstruction surgeon (who has already seen these photos) who made an urgent request that she be seen as soon as possible,

We are asking God's best for Grace.  If you would like to help Lyzette and her ministry of Hope for Women in Crisis care for Grace's medical needs, please send a donation to NGM, 29940 South Dhooghe Rd, Colton, OR 97017.  Please note that your contribution is for Grace.
