A Great Opportunity For You

America is well into its historical month of giving thanks.  November is the month of gratefully celebrating all the good things in life.  The official day of Thanksgiving will be the 28th of November, the last Thursday of the month as it always is.

As most of you know, Thanksgiving is followed by Black Friday, typically known as the day retailers mark the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season.  Banks, schools, and government offices will be closed throughout the Thanksgiving weekend, but many retailers will open early on Friday and make huge discounted offers that will cause chaos and competition among Black Friday shoppers.

And, if that is not enough, Monday is known as Cyber Monday when online retailers offer shoppers exceptional bargains.

All of this to say that these huge days close out the month of Thanksgiving ... November ...  and usher in the month of Giving ... December!

I suspect that all three of these days ... Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday ... are better known than the Tuesday that follows all of them.  Globally knows as GIVINGTUESDAY, this day officially kicks off the month of giving.

Due to Christmas and the traditional habit of giving gifts to family, friends, and coworkers, the month of December is known as the month of giving.  December is also known as the last month of the year and typically year-end giving to charitable organizations is done to take advantage of tax deductions.  The tax revisions of 2017 have reduced the number of taxpayers who list their charitable giving on their returns but may not reflect the grateful heart that motivates people to give during December.

Next Generation Ministries has chosen to take advantage of GIVINGTUESDAY this year.  We hope to see you take advantage of the opportunity to make a donation on GIVINGTUESDAY and help us keep our full and part-time employees in Uganda working through 2020.

Not all of our six full-time employees are pictured here (Sylvia, our administrator, is missing) and one of our part-time employees is missing (Alice, our farm manager).  Together Next Generation Ministries spend $33,386 annually for their salaries.  This amount includes salary, taxes, social security, and lunches. A spreadsheet of the particulars for each salary is available upon request. Email your request to ngmusa2018@gmail.com.

In 2018, two churches committed to donating $6,000 respectively toward the annual salaries needed. One of those churches has fulfilled their commitment for the past two years and has again donated $6,000 this past month toward salaries.  The other church defaulted early this year.  Additionally, there are some individual donors and short term mission teams that are donating to the salaries of three of the full-time employees.   However, NGM is left with a significant deficient toward paying our employees.

Would you please include NGM on your list of gifts this coming Christmas season?  Would you and your family help us in our effort to change Uganda one person at a time? We know this may be a challenge for you, but we ask you to let your heart be full of thanks with an attitude of giving.

Any amount is appreciated.  Any and all donations made on GivingTuesday will be designated for the salaries of our employees.

Giving is easy.  Simply click on the link below the photo of the staff above or the donate button in the upper right-hand corner of this blog.  Find the option listed as GivingTuesday and enter the amount of money you want to give.

If you prefer to give offline, write and send a check to NGM, 29940 S. Dhooghe Road, Colton, OR 97017 and write GIVINGTUESDAY on the memo line.

May the Lord bless you this giving season as you remember His work through Next Generation Ministries in the nation of Uganda.
