Ending the Story

Next Generation Ministries is closing. Let me explain ... no, let me sum up! Though summing it up can be done with the opening sentence of this blog, what follows may be a bit of an explanation. Pam and I went on our first international short-term mission trip to Uganda in September 2001. It took me only minutes to fall in love with the people of Uganda. Pam fell in love with the people during the summer of 2004 on my third short-term mission trip. We moved to Uganda in 2005. We lived with Betty and Abdu Wasswa for four years and learned so much from them. We applied for nonprofit status with the IRA and were approved in 2008 as Next Generation Ministries (NGM). Pam and I lived among the people of Uganda and directed the work until COVID-19 hit the world in 2020. We made two trips to Uganda in 2022. During those years we witnessed: Hundreds of people giving their lives to Christ Hosted nearly two dozen short-term mission teams 15 of those teams were medical teams Thousands of Ugandans ...

Before & After

There is a deep hunger inside the heart of humanity to experience and witness transformation. The evidence is everywhere. Take a look at the number of television programs featuring renovations and makeovers. It's easy to find movies that tell stories of rags to riches. Sports fans love the stories of athletes who, against all odds, perform at the highest level. Transformation ... it's delightful to witness. Weight loss. Restored classic cars. Before and after photos. My wife and I moved to Uganda in 2005 convinced God called us there ... but without any missionary template. We possessed a deep and abiding love for the people of the nation but not much more than this strong belief that God had given us this love and we needed to live among them and faithfully express His heart for them. Passing the Baton

Relay races are won and lost because of how the baton is passed from one runner to the next. It isn't only the speed and endurance of the athletes that matter but how well they pass the baton between each other. People worldwide will watch the Summer Olympics in Paris, France, from July 26 through August 11. Athletes from almost every nation will gather to compete for gold in various categories of sporting competitions. Track and field will feature relay races and passing the baton will be critical to their success. Discipleship is the work of fully devoted followers of Christ. It is the process of a follower of Christ taking a person from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity so that person can repeat the process. The goal is spiritual transformation.
